Achieving 100,000: SURGhub Launches Ambassador Programme to Drive Record Expansion in Surgical Training Access

SURGhub is setting a bold new goal: to reach 100,000 healthcare workers with high-quality surgical training. To help power this record expansion, the platform is launching the SURGhub Ambassador Programme — a global movement of motivated professionals and advocates helping to extend access to surgical education to every corner of the world.

A Bold New Goal: Reaching 100,000 Healthcare Workers

Every year, millions of patients in low-resource settings face life-threatening conditions that could be treated through safe surgery — yet surgical teams continue to face deep inequities in access to training opportunities.

SURGhub was created to change that. In just over two years, the platform has grown at record speed — reaching more than 26,000 users across 200 countries and territories. Over 10,000 healthcare workers have earned certificates of completion, and SURGhub has been recognised with the prestigious Times Higher Education Award (THE) in 2024.

Today, SURGhub stands as the world’s go-to address for surgical training, providing fast, user-friendly access to high-quality learning that strengthens teams and improves patient outcomes.
“SURGhub is transforming access to surgical training. The new Ambassador Programme will take us to the next level."
—Dr. Geoff Ibbotson, Executive Director, Global Surgery Foundation

A New Movement: The SURGhub Ambassador Programme

To help achieve its next milestone — reaching 100,000 learners — SURGhub is launching the Ambassador Programme, a global initiative that empowers individuals to spread the word, build communities, and inspire action.

Ambassadors will help raise awareness of SURGhub in their networks, organise local events, and provide feedback that shapes the platform’s evolution. In recognition of their leadership and contributions, participants will earn official Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum certificates, celebrating their impact and engagement.
“Becoming a SURGhub Ambassador is my way of contributing to a global community that believes in learning, leadership, and advancing surgical excellence together”

Together Toward 100,000

Reaching 100,000 learners is an ambitious goal — and it can’t be achieved by the SURGhub team alone. It will take a network of dedicated professionals, students, and changemakers who believe in equitable access to surgical education.

The Ambassador Programme is designed to bring those voices together, turning passion into progress and shared commitment into measurable impact.

A Programme Shaped by Its Community

The Ambassador Programme was first tested from September - October 2025 through a successful pilot phase, where a small group of dedicated volunteers from around the world helped co-design and refine its structure, activities, and recognition model. Their feedback and ideas played a key role in shaping the initiative ahead of its public launch.

SURGhub extends heartfelt thanks to this inaugural group of Ambassadors for their time, energy, and insight in helping make the programme what it is today.
"I see this role as an opportunity to bridge education and equity. Amplifying ideas, voices, and collaborations that bring us closer to achieving safe surgery for all!"
—Neharaj Pitla, USA

Join the Movement

SURGhub is now inviting healthcare professionals, educators, and advocates from around the world to become part of this growing global effort. Whether by sharing courses with peers, mentoring new learners, or representing SURGhub at events, ambassadors will play a vital role in expanding the reach of surgical education.

Together, we can build a world where access to surgical learning is universal — and where stronger teams mean better outcomes for millions.
