This course provides a comprehensive overview of Error Analysis and Prevention and how it relates to the Fundamentals of Patient Safety.
Fundamentals of Patient Safety 2024 provides a comprehensive overview of the Fundamentals of Patient Safety presented on seven key topic areas. Each topic is divided into mini-sections with a mobile-friendly interface. It provides healthcare professionals with the history, scope, and impact of adverse events and explains the key areas that affect overall patient safety. The course also addresses the systems approach to error analysis and mitigation. Learners can apply this knowledge in their clinical practice to reduce patient harm.

Dr. Jeffrey A. Green, MD, MSHA, FASA
Dr. Green is the Boyan-Keenan Professor of Anesthesia Safety at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center, where he serves as Vice-Chairman of Anesthesiology and Assistant Medical Director for Performance Improvement. He is board certified in Anesthesiology and Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and holds a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from VCU. Dr. Green is recognised for his expertise in cardiothoracic anaesthesiology, quality improvement, and patient safety, and serves on national committees including the American Society of Anesthesiologists' Board of Directors. He is currently President of the Virginia Society of Anesthesiologists and recipient of the ASA/SEA Distinguished Educator in Anesthesiology Award. He completed his medical training at The Ohio State University and his anaesthesiology residency and cardiothoracic fellowship at the University of Michigan, joining VCU faculty in 2001.
